Discover Urban Wu

Urban Wu is a hidden gem tucked in the heart of Atlanta at 3330 Piedmont Rd NE #22B, Atlanta, GA 30305, United States. From the moment you walk in, the cozy atmosphere makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a spot that locals have been keeping to themselves. On my first visit, I was immediately struck by the warm, subtle lighting and the friendly chatter of diners who clearly knew this place well. It felt less like a restaurant and more like a community hub where people come for comfort food with a twist.

The menu at Urban Wu is surprisingly diverse, offering everything from classic dumplings to inventive noodle bowls that showcase both traditional flavors and modern flair. One standout experience for me was trying their signature spicy Szechuan chicken. The seasoning was precise-hot, but not overwhelming-and the dish arrived piping hot, beautifully plated. I’ve been to many Asian-inspired diners across Atlanta, but few combine authenticity with this level of approachable creativity.

During another visit, I explored their vegetarian options, which include fresh stir-fried vegetables and handmade tofu dishes. According to a recent report by the National Restaurant Association, restaurants that diversify their menu to include plant-based options see higher customer satisfaction and repeat visits, and Urban Wu exemplifies that perfectly. The chefs seem to take pride in balancing flavors and textures, ensuring every bite is a satisfying experience.

Urban Wu’s location is also ideal for a casual lunch or an evening dinner. Situated in a bustling part of Piedmont Road, parking is convenient, and the surrounding area is full of other local attractions, making it easy to combine a meal with a quick stroll or some shopping. Reviews often highlight not only the quality of the food but also the attentive service and inviting seating arrangements that make it easy to linger over a meal.

I personally spent a weekend afternoon here with friends, sampling several small plates. We started with crispy spring rolls that had just the right crunch, followed by a beef noodle soup that was rich and comforting. The soup’s broth had been simmered for hours, a technique recommended by culinary experts from the Culinary Institute of America for developing depth and complexity. Each dish arrived in a thoughtful presentation that made the meal feel like a mini celebration of flavors.

What impressed me most was the consistency. Even on a busy Friday night, the kitchen delivered dishes with the same care and attention as during slower hours. According to a study published by Food Service Technology magazine, consistency in food preparation significantly affects repeat customer rates, and Urban Wu’s commitment is evident in both the taste and the plating.

The diner also has a selection of beverages that complement the menu. From traditional teas to handcrafted mocktails, the drinks elevate the dining experience without overpowering the flavors of the dishes. Observing other diners, it was clear that families, couples, and solo visitors alike find something to enjoy, demonstrating the restaurant’s versatility in catering to different tastes and dining preferences.

Urban Wu is more than just a place to eat-it’s a culinary experience that blends expertise, creativity, and a welcoming atmosphere. Each visit offers something new to discover, whether it’s a seasonal special, a fresh twist on a classic dish, or the friendly interactions with staff who clearly know their craft. For anyone exploring Atlanta’s vibrant food scene, this spot at 3330 Piedmont Rd NE #22B, Atlanta, GA 30305, United States is well worth the detour.

  • Excellent food at a very reasonable price. Very tasty. Delicious

  • I would give 5 stars like usual but I ordered the lettuce wraps and honestly can’t believe you thought these were acceptable to give as lettuce wraps. The chicken is great but piece of lettuce for $12 is wild. Also spent over $80 on dinner and got two fortune cookies which was fun splitting for my kids

  • Came in for lunch on Saturday. Ordered the soup dumplings, crispy pork ribs, lo mein (not pictured). Service was good and the food was great.

  • Haven’t been back in the area and stumbled onto this amazing restaurant! The entire shopping center is being redone so it’s easy to miss right now but don’t! Freshest Chinese food I’ve had in years! There were way more choices than I knew what to do with but that means lots more to try! Our party tried a mix of new-never-heard-of dishes, and staples. All of it was delicious, but the Kung Pao chicken was sweet- more like an orange chicken sauce. Nothing like what I expected or was used to. I didn’t like the sweet so I wasn’t going to eat it. There was plenty of other food so I wasn’t going to worry about it- it wasn’t their fault. But the server insisted that I choose another dish. I ended up trying the shiitake mushroom and book choy vegetarian dish and it was amazing! Mongolian beef, Mala beef rolls, Sichuan pork and leeks, dumplings- all fresh and delicious. I wouldn’t say the veggie spring rolls were very good, but they were 95 cents so if you just want to try them go for it! Food comes out when it’s ready, not necessarily all together, so if you are sensitive to that, you may want to ask them to hold it, but it all came out within ten minutes so we were fine! Will be back every trip!

  • All around a really good experience. The interior space is clean and industrial, allowing plenty of space between diners. The service was quick, friendly, polite, and attentive. We began with a mango martini which was potent and delicious. We then enjoyed pan fried pork pot stickers, wood-ear mushrooms, Dan Dan noodles, Singapore rice noodles, and shrimp Lo Mein. We also got an order of hot and numbing duck which was ok, but nothing special. Overall though, 5/5 and we’re looking forward to a return visit.

  • 3rd visit here within a few weeks and this is now my official favorite Asian restaurant. i had the General Tso’s chicken, the veggie spring rolls and the veggie potstickers. The potstickers were really different and fun, see the pic! I will be a regular.

  • I came here on a Sunday for lunch and it wasn't busy at all. I was immediately seated and my order was taken. I had the cumin lamb and it was incredible. It had me sweating bullets (very spicy) but it was flavorful. The portion was just perfect. I would recommend providing WiFi information on the table or the menu. This is the best Chinese food I have ever had. I can't wait to come back and try something different. Highly recommend trying this place out.
